New Installed Ceiling Projector, Summer, 2018
We now have a modern projector (1080p) installed in the ceiling at the Orion. Images or video can be sent from laptop or disc, through new cabling or a blu-ray player. The image in much larger than the prior projector could produce. The work was done by AudioVisual Systems of Maine. Thanks to the Senter Fund, Norway Savings Bank, and all who bought seat plaques, concessions, and raffle tickets for helping to fund this project.

New Curtains at the Orion!
New curtains across the proscenium (front of the stage) are beautiful! They are on a rope system. Sewn and installed by Major Theatre Equipment. More pictures on the Stage Renovation 2014-18 Stage Renovation page, but here are a few. (Onstage is Charles, one of the installers.) Thanks to the Senter Fund and everyone who bought raffle tickets, concessions, and seat plaques, we raised the funds for this lovely improvement.

Proscenium Curtains Installed,
June, 2017
Major Theatre Equipment Company installed our first proscenium curtains, on a rope system, in June, 2017. The stage is now quite attractive, with the rich red curtains, allowing sets and actors to wait behind them to be revealed. Our thanks to Alfred Senter Fund, and all of you who bought raffle tickets, concessions, and seat plaques! It took us 2 years to raise funds for this project.

Upstage Curtains Are Installed
Major Theatre Equipment Company installed a set of upstage curtains (on the back wall) on August 14. The stage is now more versatile, allowing a black background for theater in addition to the light-colored background already available for concerts. Our thanks to Alfred Senter Fund, Brooks Family Foundation, Wing-Benjamin Trust, and all of you who bought concessions and seat plaques!
After replacing the stage surface in 2014 (see below), in summer of 2015, we added a set of curtains to our upstage (back) wall, to allow more flexibility in presenting plays. The black backdrop now allows full use of the stage for theater productions. But the curtains can be drawn back, exposing the light-colored backdrop preferred for band concerts and symphonies. Here are photos of the process, as the workers from Major Theater Equipment Co. installed the curtains and valance.
All Done! Very nice.
Stage Surface Replaced with new Masonite
In summer of 2014, we replaced our damaged stage floor with a new masonite surface. Dan Oram, Builder, did the work. This page shows the before and after, and the process. Thanks to all who participated!
